Ho ho ho….. Merry Christmas
Posted on December 3rd, 2008 at 1:46 am by normastar and

Ho ho ho Santa is coming to town!!!! YAY and you know what that means!! Present time! Now to start off with I want to tell you the history of Christmas!! So sit back and relax!

For many centuries, Christian writers accepted that Christmas was the actual date on which Jesus was born.

In the early eighteenth century, scholars began proposing alternative explanations. Isaac Newton argued that the date of Christmas was selected to correspond with the winter solstice, which in ancient times was marked on December 25. In 1743, German Protestant Paul Ernst Jablonski argued Christmas was placed on December 25 to correspond with the Roman solar holiday Dies Natalis Solis Invicti and was therefore a “paganization” that debased the true church.] In 1889, Louis Duchesne suggested that the date of Christmas was calculated as nine months after March 25, the traditional date of the conception of Jesus. On the Roman calendar, March 25 was the date of the spring equinox . In modern times, it is celebrated as Annunciation .

Christmas (IPA : /krɪsməs/ ), also referred to as Christmas Day or Christmastide , is an annual holiday Jesus of Nazareth .[ 2] [ 3] [ 4] His birth, which is the basis for the anno Domini system of dating, has been determined by modern historians as having occurred between 7 and 2 BC. The date of celebration is not thought to be Jesus’ actual date of birth. It may have been chosen to coincide with the winter solstice ,[ 5] which the ancient Romans celebrated on December 25.[ 6] celebrated on December 25 that marks and honors the birth of

Modern customs of the holiday include gift-giving , church celebrations, and the display of various decorations—including the Christmas tree , lights , mistletoe , nativity scenes and holly . Santa Claus (also referred to as Father Christmas , although the two figures have different origins) is a popular mythological figure often associated with bringing gifts at Christmas. Santa is generally believed to be the result of a syncretization between St. Nicholas of Myra and elements from pagan Nordic and Christian mythology , and his modern appearance is believed to have originated in 19th century media.

Christmas is celebrated throughout the Christian population, but is also celebrated by many non-Christians as a secular, cultural festival. The holiday is widely celebrated around the world , including in the United States, where it is celebrated by 96% of the population.[ 7] Some Orthodox groups celebrate Christmas on or near January 7, as January 7 corresponds to December 25 using the Julian calendar .[ 8] Because gift-giving and several other aspects of the holiday involve heightened economic activity among both Christians and non-Christians, Christmas has become a major event for many retailers.

Recycling Takes over!
Posted on November 19th, 2008 at 1:21 am by normastar and

What is recycling?

Carson throwing a empty soda can into a recycle bin

Recycling means taking materials from products you have finished using and making brand new products with them. For example, most of the aluminum cans in the United States are made with recycled aliminium. So if you drink juice or soda from a can, recycle that aluminum. So if you drink juice or soda from a can, recycle that can instead of throwing it in the trash. That can will stay in the Recycling Loop and out the landfill.

Why should I recycle?
Image of a piggy bank, lightbulk and the earth
Making new things from recycled thinks takes less money, less energy, and less of the Earth’s resources, because less energy is used, factories  don’t release much pollution either.
Who recycles?
Carson flying past schools, homes and office buildings
It’s a certain amount that everyone everywhere can recycle. You can recycle at home and at school. Your parents and other adults can recycle at work, and so can the companies they work for.
How does recycling work?

Recycling starts off with people separating recyclable recycling materials from their other old trash bins. The separated recyclable materials are collected by recycling programs, processed and then sold to manufacturers for use in new products.
Carson dropping a soda can into a recyling bucket
What are recyclable materials?
image of cans, bottoles and newspapers
Aluminum and steel cans, cardboard, glass, newspapers and plastic bottles are all recycable materials you can easily recycle. These items can be made into new products including cans that hold food and drinks, the steel used to build skypapers and school buses, cardboard boxes, glass jars and bottles. newspaper/ office paper, plastic laundry detergent and evn playground materials/equipment.
Also, food scraps from home or cafeterias at school can be separated rather than put in the trash. The scraps can then be turned back into nutrients that help plants grow through a process called composting, which accelerates the natural decay process. Yard waste, such as grass clippings, leaves and small tree limbs, can be converted through composting into mulch to help gardens grow. As well as that if you school has a compost bin it can get in there as simple as that and the worms will do the job!! It’s a very good way to save the environment!!
How can I reduce the amount of trash I generate?
Carson telling kids not to buy more than they needThe best and the only safe way to reduce the amount of trash you generate is to be a careful shopper. Don’t buy more than you need, especially if the product can go bad over time(like out of date food or food you end up hating)!
As a consumer, you have purchasing power. As more and more people buy products that are reusable, refillable or concentrated, manufacturers will take notice and produce more of these Earth friendly products.
Other ways to reduce your trash output

  • Buy products in bulk or larger containers rather than multiple small containers.
  • Use a sponge rather than disposable towels.
  • Buy concentrates.
  • Buy fresh/healthy fruits and vegetables without packaging.
  • Avoid products with excessive packaging.
  • Repair, rather than replace, broken items.
  • Donate unused materials to poor charities that need it.
Reuse, Reduce, Recycle logo
What about reuse?
Reuse obviously means just what it sounds like: using something again rather than throwing it out(recycling). That usually means finding a new use, such as making a jelly jar into a drinking glass. It’s a great way to start off.
Great PA Cleanup logo
Reuse conserves the energy and many raw materials needed to make new products to get delivered and sold by companies, and doing so saves energy and reduces the amount of pollution factories release into the air and water. By recycling or reusing plastic, metal, or glass items, you can reduce the need to mine, transport, and manufacture natural resources to make new products. Trust me this will make a greater environment to live in!!! Rather than a filthy polluted earth!!!
Where does my trash go after I put it in the trashcan?
Image of a collection truck with the recycling works logo on its side Your trash is eventually picked up by a  truck collector and taken either to a landfill or a waste-to-energy incinerator. Currently, in the United States, about 26 percent of the waste generated is recycled or composted, 8 percent is burned at incinerators, and the remaining 66 percent is disposed of in landfills.
Illustration of a landfill site
What is a landfill?
Landfill isn’t just a pile of trash buried and pile in the ground It’s a much different way to explain it. Landfills are slowly designed o prevent waste from mixing with ground water and to reduce odors. most landfills have a thick plastic liner between the ground and the trash, and layers of soil are added every day to cover up the trash on
top. Materials deposed in a landfill do not decompose very quickly.
Images of paint cans, batteries and household cleaning products
Some types of trash are dangerous and need to be sorted out in special ways . Old paints, pesticides, pool chemicals, cleaning chemicals, fluorescent lamps, mercury thermometers, batteries and electronic materials can Pollute our lands, like water and air, if they are placed in the regular trash stream, or worse yet, poured down the drain or dumped outside.
So what you need to do is:

SUMMARY:

Ramaḍān (Arabic : رمضان ‎) is a Muslim religious observance that takes place during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar ; the month in which the Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad . It is the Islamic month of fasting , in which participating Muslims do not eat or drink anything from true dawn until sunset . Fasting is meant to teach the person patience, sacrifice and humility. Ramaḍān is a time to fast for the sake of God , and to offer more prayer than usual. During Ramaḍān, Muslims ask forgiveness for past sins, pray for guidance and help in refraining from every day evils, and try to purify themselves through self-restraint and good deeds.

Fasting:

The most prominent event of this month is fasting. Every day during the month of Ramadan, Muslims around the world get up before dawn to eat Suhoor , the pre-dawn meal, and perform the fajr prayer. They have to stop eating and drinking before the call for prayer starts until the fourth prayer of the day, Maghrib . Muslims may continue to eat and drink after the sun has set until the next morning’s fajr prayer call. Then the process starts all over.

Ramaḍān is a time of reflecting and worshiping God. Muslims are expected to put more effort into following the teachings of Islam and to avoid obscene and irreligious sights and sounds. Sexual thoughts and activities during fasting hours are also forbidden. Purity of both thought and action is important. The fast is intended to be an exacting act of deep personal worship in which Muslims seek a raised level of closeness to God.

The act of fasting is said to redirect the heart away from worldly activities, its purpose being to cleanse the inner soul and free it from harm. Properly observing the fast is supposed to induce a comfortable feeling of peace and calm. It also allows Muslims to practice self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, and sympathy for those who are less fortunate. It is also intended to make Muslims more generous and charitable. A certain level of self-control can be lost by those who suffer from eating disorders .

The elderly, the chronically ill and the insane are exempt from fasting, although the first two groups must endeavor to feed one poor person each day in place of their missed fasting. Also exempt are pregnant women, women during the period of their menstruation, and women nursing their newborns, all of whom must make up the days they miss at a later date. While fasting is not considered compulsory in childhood , many children endeavor to complete as many fasts as possible as practice for later life. Lastly, those traveling are exempt, but must make up the days they miss. More specifically, Twelver Shī‘ah define those who travel more than 14 miles in a day as exempt.

In addition to fasting, Muslims are encouraged to read the entire Qur’an. Some Muslims perform the recitation of the entire Qur’an by means of special prayers, called Tarawih , which are held in the mosques every night of the month, during which a whole section of the Qur’an (juz , which is 1/30 of the Qur’an) is recited. Therefore the entire Qur’an would be completed at the end of the month.Tarawih is an Arabic phrase referring

Ramaḍān is also a time when Muslims are to slow down from worldly affairs and focus on self-reformation, spiritual cleansing and enlightenment, establishing a link between themselves and God through prayer, supplication, charity, good deeds, kindness and helping others.

Since it is a festival of giving and sharing, Muslims prepare special foods and buy gifts for their family and friends and for giving to the poor and needy who cannot afford it; this can involve buying new clothes, shoes and other items of need. There is also a social aspect involved – the preparing of special foods and inviting people for the Iftar meal (the meal to break the fast).

The Islamic holiday of Eid ul-Fitr (Arabic : عيد الفطر ‎) marks the end of the fasting period of Ramadan and the first day of the following month, after another new moon has been sighted. The Eid falls after 29 or 30 days of fasting, as per the lunar sighting. Eid ul-Fitr means the Festival of Breaking the Fast; a special celebration is made. Food is donated to the poor (‘Zakat al-Fitr’), everyone puts on their best, usually new, clothes, and communal prayers are held in the early morning, followed by feasting and visiting relatives and friends. The prayer is two rakaahs only, and it is an optional prayer as opposed to the compulsory five daily prayers.

!!Show the Spirit of Halloween !!
Posted on November 2nd, 2008 at 10:11 pm by normastar and

INTRODUCTION:

Halloween (or Hallowe’en ) is a holiday celebrated on October 31 . Halloween activities include trick-or-treating , ghost tours , bonfires , costume parties , visiting haunted attractions , carving jack-o’-lanternshorror movies . Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the holiday in the late twentieth century. Halloween is celebrated in several countries of the Western world , most commonly in the United States , Canada , Ireland , Puerto Rico, Japan , the United Kingdom , and at times in parts of Australia and New Zealand . , reading scary stories, and watching

HISTORY:

Halloween has its origins in the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain (Irish pronunciation: [ˈsˠaunʲ] ; from the Old Irish samain ).[1] The festival of Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture, and is sometimes[2] regarded as the “Celtic New Year.”[3] Traditionally, the festival was a time used by the ancient Celtic pagans to take stock of supplies and slaughter livestock for winter stores. The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, now known as Halloween, the boundary between the living and the deceased dissolved, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops . The festivals would frequently involve bonfires, into which bones of slaughtered livestock were thrown. Costumes and masks were also worn at the festivals in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or placate them.

SYMBOLS:

The carved pumpkin lit by a candle inside is one of Halloween’s most prominent symbols in America and is commonly called a jack-o’-lantern . Originating in Europe, these lanterns were first carved from a turnip or rutabaga . Believing that the head was the most powerful part of the body , containing the spirit and the knowledge, the Celts used the “head” of the vegetable to frighten off any superstitions .The name jack-o’-lantern can be traced back to the Irish legend of Stingy Jack , a greedy, gambling, hard-drinking old farmer . He tricked the devil into climbing a tree and trapped him by carving a cross into the tree trunk. In revenge , the devil placed a curse on Jack, condemning him to forever wander the earth at night with the only light he had: a candle inside of a hollowed turnip. The carving of pumpkins is associated with Halloween in North America,[10] where pumpkins were not only readily available but much larger, making them easier to carve than turnips. Many families that celebrate Halloween carve a pumpkin into a frightening or comical face and place it on their doorstep after dark. In America, the tradition of carving pumpkins is known to have preceded the Great Famine period of Irish immigration. The carved pumpkin was originally associated with harvest time in general in America and did not become specifically associated with Halloween until the mid-to-late 19th century.

The imagery surrounding Halloween is largely an amalgamation of the Halloween season itself, nearly a century of work from American filmmakers and graphic artists , and a rather commercialized take on the dark and mysterious. Halloween imagery tends to involve death , evil , magic , or mythical monsters . Traditional characters include the Devil , the Grim Reaper , ghosts , ghouls , witches , pumpkin-men, bats , owls , crows , vultures , black cats , spiders , goblins , vampires , werewolves , zombies , mummies , skeletons , and demons .

Particularly in America, symbolism is inspired by classic horror films (which contain fictional figures like Frankenstein’s monster and The Mummy ), and to a lesser extent by science fiction (aliens and UFOs ). Elements of the autumn season, such as pumpkins, corn husks, and scarecrows , are also prevalent. Homes are often decorated with these types of symbols around Halloween.

COSTUMES:

Halloween costumes are traditionally thise monster costumes such as:  ghosts , skeletons , witches , and devils . Costumes are also based on themes other than traditional horror, such as those of characters from television shows , movies , and other pop culture icons.  So Costumes like that are the main suits worn on Halloween for children!

DAYS OF THE DEAD:

At first glance, the Mexican custom of El Día de los Muertos — which is mainly  the Day of the Dead — may sound much like the U.S. custom of Halloween. After all, the celebration traditionally starts at midnight the night of Oct. 31, and the festivities are abundant in images related to death.

But the customs have different origins, and their attitudes toward death are different: In the typical Halloween festivities, death is something to be feared. But in el día de los muertos , death — or at least the memories of those who have died — is something to be celebrated. I found all i needed here!

JACK O LANTERNS:

A jack-o’-lantern  is a typical carved pumpkin. It is associated chiefly with the holiday Halloween. Typically the top is cut off, and the inside flesh then scooped out; an image, usually a monstrous face, is carved onto the outside surface, and the lid replaced. During the night, a candle is placed inside to illuminate the effect. The term is not particularly common outside North America, although the practice of carving lanterns for Halloween is.

In folklore, an old Irish folk tale tells of Jack, a lazy yet shrewd farmer who uses a cross to trap the Devil. One story says that Jack tricked the Devil into climbing an apple tree, and once he was up there Jack quickly placed crosses around the trunk or carved a cross into the bark, so that the Devil couldn’t get down. Another myth says that Jack put a key in the Devil’s pocket while he was suspended upside-down;

Another version of the myth says that Jack was getting chased by some villagers from whom he had stolen, when he met the Devil, who claimed it was time for him to die. However, the thief stalled his death by tempting the Devil with a chance to bedevil the church-going villagers chasing him. Jack told the Devil to turn into a coin with which he would pay for the stolen goods (the Devil could take on any shape he wanted); later, when the coin/Devil disappeared, the Christian villagers would fight over who had stolen it. The Devil agreed to this plan. He turned himself into a silver coin and jumped into Jack’s wallet, only to find himself next to a cross Jack had also picked up in the village. Jack had closed the wallet tight, and the cross stripped the Devil of his powers; and so he was trapped. In both myths, Jack only lets the Devil go when he agrees never to take his soul. After a while the thief died, as all living things do. Of course, his life had been too sinful for Jack to go to heaven; however, the Devil had promised not to take his soul, and so he was barred from Hell as well. Jack now had nowhere to go. He asked how he would see where to go, as he had no light, and the Devil mockingly tossed him an ember that would never burn out from the flames of hell. Jack carved out one of his turnips (which was his favorite food), put the ember inside it, and began endlessly wandering the Earth for a resting place. He became known as “Jack of the Lantern”, or Jack-o’-Lantern.                                     STUBC

Poverty Strikes On The World!
Posted on October 11th, 2008 at 5:49 pm by normastar and

Poverty is where people have unreasonably low living standards compared with other ; can most definitely  not afford to buy important items to feed or protect them selves/family. Today, nearly half the world’s 6 billion people lives on less than $2 a day. However, poverty is a real life affecting both rich and poor countries . In developed countries it is a possible chance that 1 in 10 children live below the poverty line. The situation in developing countries is much worse now.

In the year 2000 (separated by the rest of the years) 1.7 million children were needlessly lost because countries around the world failed to reduce poverty levels. (Many people are struggling for a popper medication to help them live!). When all those children with Poverty grow up , they pay a heavy price. Research shows that they have more sickness, perform poorly in school, have more mental health problems, and a possibility that they might die in a early age if a positive cure is not found.

Children in poverty face greatly reduced educational prospects and future life chances. This is the conclusion not just of social policy experts and government statisticians, but of early aged children themselves. Having Poverty changes the way the children react in class and to other class mates, they also feel that they have been “got at” by their teachers some how.

Now to tell you about their daily life; After all that suffering from Poverty parents and children have to build their own houses to live, if not they have to sleep on the ground under a rock or a tree. (It’s horrifying to hear it that way). When they eventually build their homes they sleep on rotten mats, they might even have to sleep on the filthy floor if they had no choice.

-Khartoum%2CSudan-

As you see in this picture, those people are drinking from the dirty river that passes through! That’s is how they get aids if they keep going.  But…. they have no choice because they are poor, they can not afford much in their life!

What i love about Australia

I love Australia for all it has! i love Australia also for the way it is! nothing else! Here I’ll Show you what i love about my country!! (I got the idea from Nadine! I saw her writing the post and i thought if i could do the same!).

Sydney Harbour Bridge :

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is one of the most recognizable symbols of Australia . The Bridge provides a frame for one of the most beautiful har bors in the world and holds a special place in the city’s heart.

Wow don’t you love the view?

Jamberoo:

Jamberoo is NSW’s biggest fun park and there’s alot of fun and entertainment to be had. Think water thrills and spill s, a massive wave pool, speed slides, rock jump, racing cars, the famous mountain toboggan…….and that’s not even half of it. Th e new ride ‘The Taipan’ is the park not for the faint-hearted! It’s the first ride of its type in Australia - consisting of two giant slides that are totally in the dark! You will descend into a disorienting world of darkness with a terrifying g ride of drops, twists and turns.

Luna Park:

Lubna Park is amazing! The good thing is that you can go in for free! But you just have to pay a couple of coins to get on the rides! Pay one amount and receive this bracelet to allow you to enter any game or ride you want! As much as times as you want! That’s what I love about Luna Park!  You can also see the lovely view of the harbor bridge while your there! That’s a bonus!

Sydney Opera House:

The Opera House is situated on Bennelong Point, which reaches out into the harbor. The skyline of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the blue water of the harbor and the Sydney Opera House, viewed from a ferry or from the air, is dramatic and unforgettable .

The Mistake of my life!
Posted on October 6th, 2008 at 8:23 pm by normastar and

Chase is the biggest Brainniom in grade six; he gets beaten up and gets forced to do other students Assignments, home work and experiments! If his life is already stuffed then will it get worse by getting a whole school hating him? FOREVER? Will dobbing help me?

“Wake up Chase we’re Late For School!!” cried Jenna my big sis.

“Ok ok wait up”, I replied back eager to get up and put on my school uni. I woke up, put my stained clothes on and zoomed myself down stairs, as I zoomed down I skipped one step and landed on my fat belly. “GET OFF GET OFF FAT FACE!!” I heard a voice scream out from under me. I rolled over but it took me three tries to get of. YIKES! It was Stacey, the most popular girl in our school! I thought to myself; why would she be in the Barbour family house? “Oh Chase, Stacey is here to collect her home work she left at your room from last night”, my said in a confident speaking voice as she put her vault on. “Oh… follow me Stacey I’ll get it for you!”, I said scarcely thinking of the hue mess i left behind in my room! All stinky and all my socks are on….WHERE HER HOME WORK IS!!!!!!!!

AHHHHHH! What should i do! I have no choice but to politely invite her into my room! (As you know i have a huge crush on her). “Is this your room Chase?” she asked hurriedly to get her home work and run off. “Ummmm…. Yes” I replied regretfully.

“I’ll go in and find it than”, Stacey said shock fully. She grabbed her homework under the pile of socks and ran for her life!

Oh what a shame! I thought, now she’ll hate me!

“Stacey! What’s the rush? I’ll drive you home!”, mum called out. “No need I’m already sick of this!” She said madly as she ran down the street toward the school. What happened Chase? Did she see you room? Did you let….”, mum shouted out!

She went into my room and saw her homework under my socks! And she got a huge…..

“That’s enough son, your grounded for a whole week for not tidying up you room!

I ran out the door straight to school to explain every thing to Stacey! I don’t want her to hate me for ever!

I arrived just in time at school as saw everyone gathering up to there class lines! I quickly lined up and waited for the Assembly to finish.” Today a new guest from the council to announce a speak about pollution”, Mrs. McKinley announced.

“Boohoo”, all students cried!

But Mrs. McKinley ignored all the yelling and left the Assembly to start the school day.

Two hours passed and we sat down in the assembly room for the announcement about POLLUTION! The announcement was so boring that I slept through the whole Assembly!!! How embarrassing! “Wake up Chase!!!!!! You’re such a baby!” I heard screaming voices pass through my ear! I woke up and found every student gather up around me. I suddenly woke up a with a huge kick by STACEY on the head! I Knew she done that because of what had happened early this morning! i ran towards the teacher to line up so i don’t get another kick! Hours passed and more and more students started hating me! Why? Aha I know now because Stacey told everyone!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRR….. She is really getting on my nerves! It just happened once! And so days passed and more enemies ganged up!!! I could not do anything! Everybody hated me!

So I just had to report them all to the principal!

“Mrs. Pinipopoloud, the whole school is bullying me!”, i yelled out from the top of my throat

“Oh dear!, when did this start?

“Well…. yesterday”

“I will have to report them to every parent than!”

Today passed and it got worse! Everyone punched me, everybody kicked me and everybody spit on me! That happened everyday for years! No one would give up! And there was nothing i could do! And from that day on I learnt not to tell on anyone and to always clean my room!

The Olympics games are here…..
Posted on July 25th, 2008 at 3:16 am by normastar and

Hi guys!! I have got some information I’ve searched that you might like or learn about the Olympic games!

There are many myths surrounding the origin of the ancient Olympic Games. The most popular legend describes that Heracles was the creator of the Olympic Games, and built the Olympic stadium and surrounding buildings as an honor to his father Zeus, after completing his 12 labours. According to that legend he walked in a straight line for 400 strides and called this distance a “stadion” (Greek: “Στάδιον”)- (Roman: “stadium”) (Modern English: “Stage”) that later also became a distance calculation unit. This is also why a modern stadium track is 400 meters in circumference — the distance a runner travels in one lap (1 stadium = 400 m). Another myth associates the first Games with the ancient Greek concept of ἐκεχειρία (ekecheiria) or Olympic Truce. The date of the Games’ inception based on the count of years in Olympiads is reconstructed as 776 BC, although scholars’ opinions diverge between dates as early as 884 BC and as late as 704 BC.

From then on, the Olympic Games quickly became much more important throughout ancient Greece, reaching their zenith in the 6th and 5th centuries BC. The Olympics were of fundamental religious importance, contests alternating with sacrifices and ceremonies honouring both Zeus (whose colossal statue stood at Olympia), and Pelops, divine hero and mythical king of Olympia famous for his legendary chariot race with King Oenomaus of Pisatis, and in whose honour the games were held. The number of events increased to twenty, and the celebration was spread over several days. Winners of the events were greatly admired and were immortalised in poems and statues.[9] The Games were held every four years, and the period between two celebrations became known as an ‘Olympiad.’ The Greeks used Olympiads as one of their methods to count years. The most famous Olympic athlete lived in these times: the sixth century BC wrestler Milo of Croton is the only athlete in history to win a victory in six Olympics.[10]

The Games gradually declined in importance as the Romans gained power in Greece. After Emperor Theodosius I proclaimed Christianity the religion of the Empire and banned pagan rites, the Olympic Games were outlawed as a pagan festival in 393 AD.[11]

During the ancient times normally only young men could participate.[10] Competitors were usually nude, not only as the weather was appropriate but also as the festival was meant to be, in part, a celebration of the achievements of the human body. Upon winning the games, the victor would have not only the prestige of being in first place but would also be presented with a crown of olive leaves. The olive branch is a sign of hope and peace.[12]

Even though the bearing of a torch formed an integral aspect of Greek ceremonies, the ancient Olympic Games did not include it, nor was there a symbol formed by interconnecting rings. These Olympic symbols were introduced as part of the modern Olympic Games.

That’s the Beijing Olympic Game Symbol/stamp/sign Those are little toys that represent the Olympic flag!

So that’s the birds nest where the Olympic G games are held in that stadium!!

Fights Fights just make me mad!!
Posted on July 25th, 2008 at 3:01 am by normastar and

As you know i have a friend called Andrea!! lately this afternoon we had a terrible fight. I’ll tel you all about it now:

I went to the toilets with my friend.

I came back and found andrea mad.

I asked her if she was my friend, and said no.

I backed away from her to cool down for a moment.

I too decided that she was a selfish girl.

So I would not be her friend ever again..

The main point about this fight is that she would not let me play with any other person…and that is really mean don’t you think? So that was my finale choice because she’s made me mad lots of times and now this is the last!!! So she will have to get a new friend now……

Has this happened to you before? Have you felt really annoyed when this has happened? Well I have!! It really annoys me! So I hope that I can see your answers!!!!

See ya’s later!!!

Posted on July 11th, 2008 at 5:00 am by normastar and

Hi everyone! As you know Nadine has written a post about a country killing poor cute an innocent cats….And I have to admit that those people need a penalty!! …..Now I want to make this clear to everbody here that is reading! I have questions to ask about which country do you think it happened at… There are some decisions I’ve suggested but maybe you have some more up there in your head and that would be great if you would splat the words out wouldn’t it?…..! Here are my suggestion Guys! :

1. China

2. Japan

3. Russia

4. Vietnam

5. America

6. South Africa

Those are all the countries that I think might be the ones you did the crime scene business! I wonder if you have any other in mind! Like I said, It would be fantastic if you did! Because that would really help me with the thinking! So If you have any other countries in the mind of yours just plat it out and tell me straight away before you forget!

I too wonder what there gender are or if they work together! Here are my suggestions for this question!:

1. males

2. Females

3. group

4. mix

5. pairs

Which do you think they work as?!  I hopefully will try to find out all those soon enough so just be clam and good luck with all!

What I believe is right for me..
Posted on July 7th, 2008 at 4:19 am by normastar and

When I’m at school during recess or lunch some silly people come and tell me that I’m short. I try to ignore them but huge feeling come into my head that never let me forget. I some times say to my self “why do people boss me around and say mean things about me? ” So as i think I just go up to them and reply back meanly as they do. People think I’m the soft kind girl style but I’m not… I like to hurt people’s feeling if they hurt mine first! I like to make a fight when my family is with me and they are bad. I stand up for my self and do what is best for me so If you’re in a situation like me just ignore them or reply meanly back to them.

I like to have friends that don’t talk behind my back! I’ve had this situation all my life you know. But when I was in kindergarten I used to frighten many people so they don’t dare to tease me or say anything bad in front of my cute chubby face!!!!!! I moved on I listen to my brain and do what I want! People think I’m so dumb that they think I won’t DOB on them ! Because I’ve showed up for my self now no one dares to be mean to me!! Now every one, has this ever happened to you? Just tell me and I’ll help you no matter what!! OKAY?

Think this story is scary enough for you?
Posted on June 13th, 2008 at 7:31 pm by normastar and

One horrible stormy and windy night, Isabella and her friends joined her at the back of her school at midnight to see what had happened to her dead friend that last night. The sat down on the muddy area and waited quietly and still to figure out what they should to. Finally Isabella saw blood foot steps on the floor, so Isabella’s friends followed her away through the cold air. They followed her and followed her but her friends felt like they were not moving a teeny weeny bit. So, Isabella opened the gate and entered the bloody garden.

She looked back and founded a shadow behind her, ” Hellooo Isaabbeellaa”, I want my revenge on what you did to me yesterrrddaayyyyyyy”, she said in a hooweee way. ” What did I do yesterday?”, Isabella asked politely. ” You left me here and ran away without bringing any help for me”, the goat said madly with her face extremely red. Oh i remember (oops), she thought to her self. So Isabella ran and ran but she felt no movement with the ground she was flowing up and up and up and up until she reached death to her self.

” Why are you doing this?”, Isabella asked. ” This is for not helping me from my dreadful death, so that means you will die the same death as me”. So I flowed up with humongous rage and I could not breath from the overflow she gave me up in the air. I could not breathe that I let my self die in disbelieve.

So that means I will you know to my friends……….Death Death Death Death. There is now evil inside me like her……………….. Darkness, I could feel. We both turned into twins with our own two graves behind us with my teady bear with me.

( Freaked out now?)

The try outs for the girl basketball team and face this……..
Posted on June 13th, 2008 at 5:59 pm by normastar and

(Dreadfully news) On the 11th of June I tried out for the girls basketball team. I was afraid I wouldn’t make it in because I was way shorter then the other girls. We practiced and practiced and than we played a game. I never shot a goal but liked to snatch of other players versing me!!

My team won!! but I was totally unconscious.

I really would have loved it if I had made it in. So I asked the coach when will you say who made it in?

And he said tomorrow morning!

So the next day I went to school and lined up for asseberly.

The coach called out girls basketball meet me now so i did. Now here comes the bad news, “I did not make it”. I have always dreamed of making it in. But I guess they chose my the hight. So I always ignored the teacher and the coach and I hopefully will overdo it sometime!!

They will play there game in the semi final you know! I will let you know who made it when they come back from the game k? Thank you.

Hello readers, today on the 12th of June 2008 Belmore South P.s was debating against Strathfield South P.s.

Our school won!!!!!!!!!! woohooooo!

So that means that our class and S3C will be watching the next debate hopefully!!

Belmore Souths debate of O8!!
Posted on June 8th, 2008 at 4:36 am by normastar and

This week we had our first debate of the year for Belmore South. It was against Campsie, (not very far from us), and the topic was that “Earth Hour is a waste of time”. We were saying it WASN’T a waste of time, and guess what….. WE WON!!!!

Even though we were all above the time limit we still had very good arguments and we had very good rebuttals.

In this first debate it was: 1st speaker, me; 2nd speaker, Naomi ; 3rd speaker, Ramiz ; and team advisor, Celia . At Belmore South we usually have 2 extra people in the debating team but we haven’t found out who those two people are yet.

Hope we do as well as we did in this debate in our upcoming debates.

See ya!!!

The Sunset Rise Set Poem…
Posted on May 21st, 2008 at 12:42 am by normastar and

At Sunset Time I looked up at the sky, I saw the sky and said Good Bye to the Sun Set Rise.

I was tired, when i saw a man who was fired in the middle of the Sun Rise Set.

When I looked away I felt a little bit wacky, then shaky when i turned around from the Sun Rise Set.

This is a Poem, to help you show’em that this story is only about the Sun Rise Set.

Now I will go then I will flow in the view of the Sun Rise Set.

Will the sunset send a note? Will the sunset send a boat? Oh, It will send a little coat over the Sun Rise Set.

Mothers day stall(Mothers day)
Posted on May 13th, 2008 at 2:30 am by normastar and

Mothers day stall is when children have to give in presents so people can buy a gift for their mums. The prises were from 50 cents-$10. I only got a ring because i only had $2 for my recess but I gave the money away for the ring instead. I gave the ring to the lady on the bench and said “Do you have one more dollar?”

” No”, said. oops… it was three dollars! but the lady on the bench still accepted it! So on my way home I gave my mum the ring. She loved it!!

After a while we went to get the Sunday Telegraph, When we got it i saw a list of things to do for my mum(not chores). I done all the things it told me to do. Than i made desert for my mum. It was a face. She loved it. It contained: cake, grapes , carrot, and Mandarins.

That was a good day! (next post will be about what Natalie said, “the cross country”!!)

Save the whales!!
Posted on May 9th, 2008 at 10:19 pm by normastar and

Whales might be all killed if Japan keeps killing whales. It is the same as culling the kangaroos. The Aussies say that Japan shouldn’t kill whales and Japan says ” No”. Now that is getting serious. You have to decide now. Every comment I get I will hopefully give it to a website I find about killing whales. ( I will write everything I can!) So are you with me?

The last i ever saw my parents…..
Posted on April 24th, 2008 at 1:02 am by normastar and

One dark night i heard my parents chatting together about the atomic bomb that was going to hit next week. I never new what it was about so i just went to the living room where my parents sat near the red fire the lightened up a few minutes ago. “Darling what are you doing down here?” mum said in a strangely voice.

“Well….. i heard you talking about this thing called the atomic…., i said in a weary voice.

“Honey there is this bomb that is going to attack this town and we are just discussing what we are going to do about it like stay or leave, now honey go to bed please, mum said. T stomped my way up the stairs and ran straight into my room. The next day i walked up mum was all sweaty and she was about to faint. When i ran down my mum told me one thing it was that she had the atomic bomb disease, at that moment i was so sad i couldn’t handle it it had to get some peace and quiet. So i ran up to my room and slept. When i got up i found no one there there was a note signed by the police saying “Your parents have died from the atomic bomb disease. I was an orphan at that stage. I… i ….i.. had no where to live, and that was the last time i saw my parents ever.

Here are some nice poems:

There was a boy

who goes to school

Hangs around the pool

and he becomes a fool!

There was a bee

who went to sea

and came back to me!

There is a girl

who went in a shark

to go and fart

than she collected some rotten tart !

Should they ban skirts, dresses and sandals in school time?
Posted on April 16th, 2008 at 10:49 pm by normastar and
In a private school i used to go to they said they should bann girls from wearing skirts and dresses! They even banned us from wearing sandals.

Now i am giving your suggestion if you think they should.

1. They should ban skirts?

2. They should ban dresses?

3. They should ban sandals?

4. None?

5. All?

Think about it okay?

Dark poems!
Posted on April 15th, 2008 at 10:43 pm by normastar and

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary.

Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
“‘Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door –
Only this, and nothing more.”

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow; — vainly I had tried to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow — sorrow for the lost Lenore –
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore –
Nameless here for evermore.

And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain
Thrilled me — filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating
“‘Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door –
Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door; –
This it is,
and nothing more.”
